You always think nothing bad can happen to you. I am here to tell you that is simply NOT true. They happen to you when you least expect them to. I mean, do you ever REALLY expect something bad to happen? But anyways... I remember when my dad first went to the hospital. My sister called me and said "Jaimie, you should sit down." I wasn't really prepared for what I was about to hear. You can NEVER be prepared. She said "Daddy had a seizure and they're rushing him to the hospital." My first words were "Are you joking?" I mean, I know my sister better than that; this is not something she would joke about.
We got to the hospital only to find out that the ambulance driver had to pull over on the way to resuscitate my father. When I went back to see him, I can honestly tell you that I've never seen a more scary sight in my life, even to this day. And as my sister previously posted, it will NEVER be easy to see your father hooked up to all those tubes. But anyway... I saw my father and he was awake at this point. And I could tell that he was scared. I remember... he had a tear in the corner of his eye.
At first they thought he had a stroke. Oh gosh, how I wish it could have been something that simple. He could have recovered from that by now. No, turns out he has a very aggressive form of cancer... And he is given two years to live. That two years... it's up this month.
